The Hum Trail in the Tanew River Nature Reserve

General

Unit type:

Picturesque landscapes and the hum of water in one of the most beautiful places in Roztocze.

The Tanew River Nature Reserve was founded in 1958 to protect and preserve the natural landscape of Tanew and Jeleń Rivers. The greatest peculiarity within the Reserve is the series of 24 water rapids of nearly one metre high on the 200 m section of the Tanew River – the so called “hums” (“szumy”). The hums most probably date back to the Tertiary. The Tanew River Reserve is also the heaven for a lot of rare examples of flora and fauna.
