Information
"Gate to the Wetlands" invites to Canoeing Ślina and Narew Valley The water track leading from a historical town of Tykocin to the village of Bronowo presents both the natural and the cultural values of the Narew valley. Floating down the river one can observe birds characteristic for swampy areas, including rare species that are endangered because of marsh drainage. On the way there are villages with traditional wooden architecture and hospitable agritourist farms, where tourist can find good accommodation. Passing by pastures and fields one can come across "happy cows" crossing the river or observe traditional methods of haymaking.
Canoeing is easy, there are only two dams on the way where canoes must be carried. River banks are usually overgrown with low plants or single trees. At a good weather one can admire picturesque views of villages at the river as well as such architecture pearls as Tykocin or Wizna. You are also very likely to meet some birds, for instance, swans.
The track ends in Bronowo, but it is worth to flow the Narew river further up as in several km it enters the Łomża Landscape Park of the Narew Valley.
