The Natural Landscape Park of the San River Valley

The Natural Landscape Park of the San River Valley was established in 1992. Its total area is 35 635 ha. From the Northeastern side it is a buffer zone of the Bieszczady National Park. The Natural Landscape Park of the San River Valley was established in 1992. Its total area is 35 635 ha. From the Northeastern side it is a buffer zone of the Bieszczady National Park. The Natural Landscape Park is located on the area of the San River Valley (from its spring to Lake Solińskie), the Otryt Range and the Mountain Massifs: Magura Stuposiańska, Dwernik-Kamień and Jeleniowate. The Natural Landscape Park of the San River Valley was set up i.a. to protect an upper reaches of the San, which is one of the beautiest river in Poland. 80% of the Park area is covered with a forest, especially the Carpathian beechwood. Forest landscape is diversified by beautiful meadows and peatbogs. The plant flora of the Park consist of 806 species of vascular plants, including 38 alpine species, 64 subalpine forest species, numerous of the East Carpathian species and unique biocenosis of peatbogs. The fauna of the Park consists of about 130 species typical for a primeval forest, e.g. all big carnivores, European bisons, almost all reptiles.
